"IBNT" KHALDOUN!
More specifically, The committee thinks that her publications have emphasized the exceptional accomplishments of Tunisia with respect to women's rights and gender issues. This has been a consistent theme of her work and especially of her book, STATES AND WOMEN'S RIGHTS, for which she has received the recognition of her peers in the academic world in several disciplines ranging from sociology to political science and history. The committee believes it is fair to say that American social scientists interested in questions of women's rights have been made aware of what happened in Tunisia with the Code of Personal Status, in part, through that book. Anyone working on such issues cannot ignore the Tunisian case. The Committee wishes that you will join in honoring Dr. Charrad at the Ibn Khaldoun Award Hafla-2005.
