Kelibia (Cap Bon, Tunisia) got a taste of nature's fury on Saturday, November 13, when a powerful tornado swept through the area, killing at least 12 people and leaving a path of destruction never seen in Tunisia by such a phenomenon. In the US, tornados are commonplace and are impossible to predict with sufficient lead time to avoid loss of human life. Normally, only extremely sensitive structures such as nuclear power plants and bunkers are designed to resist tornado forces, as the wind speed can reach 400 miles per hour. Needless to say, when a tornado hits, it chooses its random path and anything on its path is destroyed. The picture in this article shows the dreaded funnel of a well-formed tornado. It is taken from a private blog site.
